Academic practice, made explicit
This course is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and understanding of academic practice in the higher education sector, in particular teaching, learning, research and course design.
It suits academics who want to develop their practice deliberately rather than by habit, those upgrading their qualifications as part of scholarly activity, and professionals transitioning from the vocational sector into higher education teaching.

Four units of credit into the Master of eLearning
Students who complete this graduate certificate are eligible for four subjects of credit into the Master of eLearning, so the study carries forward rather than being repeated.

Four core units, 24 credit points
To qualify for the award you complete all four core units below. A unit worth 6 credit points is equal to 0.125 equivalent full-time student load.

No prerequisites apply to any unit. While not mandatory, it is recommended that you follow the sequence above. Onshore international students study full time on campus in Melbourne, except for units that must be taken online to suit the unit focus. Offshore international students study 100 per cent online.

Designed to support learners advancing their careers as teaching and research academics, education focused academics, or casual university teachers. On completion you receive four subjects of credit into the Master of eLearning.

Admission requirements
Admission is granted to applicants who meet any one of the following. This is an AQF Level 8 qualification.
- A completed bachelor degree (AQF 7) or higher from a recognised institution
- A three year associate degree or advanced diploma (AQF 6) with a credit average
- A two year associate degree or advanced diploma (AQF 6) with a credit average, plus one year of full-time relevant professional experience
- A diploma (AQF 5) plus two years of full-time relevant professional experience
- A recognised postgraduate preparation program
- Three years of full-time managerial or professional experience in a related field
- Five years of full-time general work experience in a related field
English language requirements
Applicants with international qualifications not delivered in English must demonstrate equivalency, for example Academic IELTS 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0, or PTE Academic 58 with writing and speaking at least 50. Other accepted tests and scores are listed in the HELI admission policy.

How long does it take?
Two trimesters full time, or four trimesters part time, about 18 months.
Can I study fully online?
Offshore international students study 100 per cent online. Onshore international students study full time on campus in Melbourne, except for units that must be delivered online to suit the unit focus.

Yes. You receive four subjects of credit into the Master of eLearning.

Am I eligible without a bachelor degree?
Possibly. Three years of full-time managerial or professional experience in a related field, or five years of general work experience, are both accepted entry routes.
